THEYDON BOIS GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES
1. OUT OF BOUNDS (RULE 18.2)
(A ball is OOB when all of it lays OOB)
a) Beyond any fence, and on or beyond any road bounding the course. A ball crossing a road defined
as OOB and coming to rest beyond that road is OOB. Even though it may lie on another part of the
course.
b) Beyond the inside points at ground level of any White Stakes or fence posts defining the boundary
of the course (sightline between posts) White Stakes are fixed. A player must not improve or allow
to be improved the position or lie of their ball, the area of their intended stance or swing by moving
bending or breaking anything growing or fixed (including immovable obstructions and objects
defining out of bounds), Rule 18.2a(2)
c) 17 th hole to the left of the fairway: Red Stakes indicate a Penalty Area. White Stakes with Black
Tops draw attention to an OOB. In or over the ditch its OOB. The OOB defined by the margins of the
ditch. White Stakes with Black Tops are moveable obstructions Rule 15.2a(1) applies.
d) In the Clubhouse enclosure as defined by the White Posts.
2. PENALTY AREAS
All ditches and brooks other than those marked as OOB are Penalty Areas (defined by red or yellow
stakes): Relief is under Rule 17.1d.
3. TREES BUSHES AND SHRUBS
Any trees or shrubs supported or marked by a stake or plastic tube which interfere with a player’s
stance or area of intended swing shall be deemed an immovable obstruction and relief MUST by
taken in accordance with Rule 16.1f.
4. PATHS
Artificially surfaced paths are immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under rule
16.1.
5. FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS
All sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions, where they interfere with the player’s stance or
path of intended swing, relief may be taken under Rule 16.1. Additionally, if a sprinkler head on or
within two club-lengths of a putting green of the hole being played intervenes between a ball within
two club-lengths of a sprinkler head and the hole and is not in a Penalty Area free relief may be
taken as under Rule 16.1b.
Plastic covers on cut holes on the putting green interfering with the intended line of the putt: Relief
may be taken Rule 16.1d.
PENALTY FOR ANY BREACH OF LOCAL RULES
MATCH PLAY – LOSS OF HOLE
STROKE PLAY – GENERAL PENALTY (two Strokes)
BLUE MAKER POSTS at the side of the fairway signify 150 yards to the centre of green.
